A brief history of the Chicago, St. Paul, Minneapolis & Omaha Railway Elroy-St. Paul mainline:

06/26/21

This single span stone arch crosses a small drainage ditch next to US-12, just after the St. Croix/Dunn County line.
Originally built in 1899, the bridge was constructed as part of a realignment through the area. It was extended in 1912 to accommodate a second track. The interior stonework shows a clear joint between the 1899 and 1912 constructions.
The combination of build dates is shown in conflicting stoneworks, using different stones. This construction technique was common for expanding mainlines.
Overall, the bridge appears to be in good condition, with no significant deterioration noted.

The author has ranked this bridge as being locally significant, due to the common design.
